Tis’ the SEASON to Find Balance

November 22, 2016 By //  by Dishing For Real

Welcome to the holiday season….tis the season for stress, right? It doesn’t have to be so stressful but you do have to follow a few steps this holiday S-E-A-S-O-N

thankful

We all stress over something during the holidays. It can be anything from overeating, overspending, to overcommitting….we just over do it. Holistic Health Coach Meghan Teska put together her list of ways to find balance this holiday S-E-A-S-O-N.

Tis’ the S-E-A-S-O-N to Find Balance

  • Seek healthy relationships. At some point in our lives we all recognize toxic relationships among friends or even in our own family. Fill your life, your table, and your social time with those who have a positive impact.
  • Eliminate the excess. The holidays can be a time of gift giving but also decorating, eating, drinking…etc. All of which can bring stress into your life. Fill your life and the life of those around you with more meaning and less stuff.
  • Ask for help. Do you ever feel like a failure when you ask for help? Please stop. Reach out and ask for help when you need. You don’t need to plan that party, put up all the decorations, or cook that large meal alone. It also helps you build your healthy relationships.
  • Self-care. Don’t forget to treat yourself this holiday season. It is important to take a moment for yourself to recharge and be the best you can be.
  • Open your heart and give. This isn’t always about giving money. Give your time, your energy, and even your smile to brighten someone’s day. If you have the money to donate, even better.
  • No, it is okay to say it. This is a hard one for many. Remember you are to enjoy this time of year with your family and friends as well.

Follow these 6 steps for a little more balance this holiday season and even all year round. Many times we feel guilty for saying no or putting ourselves first but in the end when we do show up, we are able to offer more attention and energy to those around us.

What is your favorite way to slow down over the holidays? Have you tried one of these steps, did they work for you?

Happy Holidays everyone from your friends at Dishing For Real.
